【音楽】今日の１曲 High Tide Or Low Tide

今日の１曲は、Bob Marley の High Tide Or Low Tide を Jack Johnson と Ben Harper がカヴァーしたもの。

久しぶりに聴きたくなった。

原曲がBob Marley のどのアルバムに収録されているのかすぐにはわからないけれど、『Catch A Fire』 の１０曲目にボーナストラックとして収録されている。

オリジナルもいいけどカヴァーもかなりいい感じで仕上がっていて素晴らしい。

そもそも、この曲をカヴァーすること自体が憎い。

それに、Ben Harper のラップスチールの音色がこの曲の雰囲気をとても上手く表現している。

Ben Harper は幼い頃、父に連れられて Bob Marley & The Wailers のライブを観にいったらしい。

そこで脱退したはずの Peter Tosh が突然ステージ脇から登場して、自ら作曲した曲を歌ったのだそうだ。（偶然、ライブ会場の近くに来ていたらしい）

Bob Marley も驚いて、（君の作った曲だから、どうぞ！）とマイクを譲ったのだそうだ。

そのときの映像は今でも鮮明に覚えていると彼はインタビューの中で熱く語っていた・・・。


そういえば昨年の１１月末に京都に帰省したとき、夜の木屋町でラップスチールを弾いている兄さんを見かけたけれど、今夜も寒空の下で弾いているんだろうか・・・。
